Translating Gestalt grouping principles from form and music into the temporal domain of visual motion.

Translating Gestalt grouping principles from form and music into the temporal domain of visual motion.

Motion Gestalt is a theoretical framework that explains how perceptual organization gives coherence to visual motion.

Why Motion Gestalt?

During my doctoral research, I became interested in how perceptual organization continues beyond static visual arrangements. Although Gestalt psychology provides a powerful account of spatial grouping, it offers only limited explanation for how perceptual organization unfolds in dynamic visual environments. Motion Gestalt extends Gestalt grouping principles into the temporal domain, providing a theoretical framework for understanding visual motion.
